Cold Nights of Spring

Spring on the farm can bring many nights of lost sleep. The developing fruit has minimum temperatures it can endure. From when the buds start to develope the farmer keeps a close eye on night time temperatures. On our farm we have wind machines and propane heaters. Each propane heater is lit by hand. With the wind machines and heaters the temperature inside the orchard can be raised 2-3 degrees. There are nights when that 2-3 degrees can make a difference in if we are going to have a fruit crop or not.
